Chris Pratt discusses the upcoming dinosaur movie 'Jurassic World'

So far this year we鈥檝e seen a few films shift their release dates out of the already overcrowded summer of 2015 鈥撎 听but the next installment in the听franchise听is releasing right in the thick of it on听June 12th, 2015.
Starring in听听is听, alongside听,听.听Jurassic World听will pick up听听the events of听Jurassic Park听and be filmed on the听, which served as the primary filming locations for听听in the first movie.听
Jurassic World听will be the first large franchise film for director Colin Trevorrow (), but that inexperience does鈥檛 worry Pratt. Speaking with听, Pratt praised Trevorrow鈥檚 vision and excitement for the project:
鈥淗e鈥檚 got a great vision for the movie鈥 It鈥檚 awesome that Steven Spielberg is taking a chance on this guy because he鈥檚 got a really clear vision.听 I sat down with him and it was kind of like with me and ['' director] James [Gunn], we just kind of started getting excited about this.鈥
Since听Jurassic World听will be the third sequel in the听Jurassic Park听franchise, plenty of fans question why another is needed. (Especially as the last two weren鈥檛 all that well-received.) Pratt says this is something addressed in听Jurassic World鈥榮 script.
More to the point, the script addresses why anyone would try cloning dinosaurs again considering how badly it turned out the first time:
鈥淲hat I liked about it was it answers the question of 鈥榃hy would you do that?鈥 Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, 鈥極h yes, let鈥檚 make this mistake again. We haven鈥檛 learned our lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!鈥 after like three tries at it.听 They answer the question really well through the script.听 Colin did a great job of writing it and justifying it and in his own way听having fun听with that, so anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused 鈥 the way I was 鈥 about how they answer that.鈥
Whatever the clever reasoning is behind yet another attempt at bringing dinosaurs back from extinction, things will eventually go听awry. And when they do, it will fall to Pratt鈥檚 鈥rugged ex-military guy鈥听to pick up the pieces.
MTV News听asked Pratt whether his character will be more like Sam Neill鈥檚 Dr. Grant or Jeff Goldblum鈥檚 Dr. Malcolm, to which he responded:
鈥淗e鈥檚 got a little of both.听 He鈥檚 got a little bit of the Goldblum cynicism but also the Sam Neill听excitement听at the wonder of the biology of it all, so it鈥檚 a combination.鈥
It鈥檚 disappointing Pratt wasn鈥檛 asked if there were any similarities between his character and Laura Dern鈥檚 Dr.听Sattler, but that鈥檚 probably because no one could ever equal her steely resolve when it comes to facing down dangerous dinos.
