Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong'o will appear in the new 'Star Wars' film

Two more actors have joined the group who will appear in the new 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 film, which is scheduled to be released in December 2015.
Lupita Nyong鈥檕 of 鈥12 Years a Slave鈥 and actress Gwendoline Christie of聽鈥Game of Thrones鈥澛爓ill star in the film, according to Lucasfilm.
鈥淚 could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a . "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.鈥
Christie and Nyong鈥檕 join the cast members who are returning from the original trilogy, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, and Anthony Daniels. Others that are new to the 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 universe that have already come aboard are Adam Driver of 鈥淕irls,鈥 鈥淟ord of the Rings鈥 actor Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow of 鈥淭he Exorcist,鈥 鈥淚nside Llewyn Davis鈥 actor Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson of 鈥淎bout Time,鈥 鈥淢r. Selfridge鈥 actress Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega of 鈥淚mperial Dreams.鈥
It鈥檚 unknown at this time what role the newbies, including Nyong鈥檕 and Christie, will be taking on, though one can presume the 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 veterans will be playing their old roles again.
Nyong鈥檕 won a Best Supporting Actress last year for her feature film debut in the 2013 film 鈥12 Years a Slave,鈥 in which she played the abused slave Patsy alongside actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender. Meanwhile, Christie is starring as the warrior Brienne of Tarth on the wildly successful HBO fantasy drama 鈥淕ame of Thrones鈥 and is set to appear in another lucrative franchise 鈥 she鈥檒l reportedly appear as Commander Lyme in the film 鈥The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 鈥 Part 2.鈥 Lyme heads up District 13 in the book and, like protagonist Katniss Everdeen, is a former champion of the government鈥檚 Hunger Games.
The seventh 鈥淪tar Wars鈥 film is set to be released on Dec. 18, 2015.
