Ted Danson's TV show, 'CSI,' will return for another season
CBS is keeping the crime drama 鈥淐SI: Crime Scene Investigation鈥� on the air for at least another season and renewed the contract of one of its stars, Ted Danson, for two more years.
鈥淐SI鈥� will be entering its fourteenth season next year and has spawned two spin-offs, 鈥淐SI: Miami,鈥� which ended its run in 2012 after airing for 10 seasons, and 鈥淐SI: NY,鈥� which has aired nine seasons so far, and its fate for next year is so far unknown. 鈥淢iami鈥� starred 鈥淣YPD Blue鈥� actor David Caruso and 鈥淣Y鈥� centers on 鈥淎pollo 13鈥� actor Gary Sinise.
As for the original "CSI," CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler called the show 鈥渟ynonymous with CBS.鈥�

"The writers and producers have done an amazing job evolving CSI, reinventing the show around an incredible leading man in Ted Danson, the acclaimed Elisabeth Shue and our beloved and talented core of original castmembers.鈥�
As has happened before on the 鈥淐SI鈥� shows, the most recent 鈥淐SI: Crime Scene Investigation鈥� season eatured a crossover episode on which Sinise appeared as his 鈥淣Y鈥� character. 鈥淐rime鈥� is scheduled to air its season finale May 15.
Danson came aboard 鈥淐SI鈥� in its twelfth season in 2011, essentially replacing actor Laurence Fishburne after the actor decided to leave the show. Danson鈥檚 character D.B. Russell became the night shift supervisor after Fishburne鈥檚 character, Ray Langston, left the show鈥檚 team.
The actor had guest spots on various TV shows and appeared in films including the 1979 movie 鈥淭he Onion Field鈥� and 1982鈥檚 鈥淏ody Heat鈥� before he was cast as bar owner Sam Malone on the 1982 series 鈥淐heers,鈥� which ran for 11 seasons. Danson won two Golden Globes for Best Actor in a TV Series 鈥� Comedy or Musical for his role on the show as well as two Emmy awards for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
More recently, the actor appeared in the 1998 movie 鈥淪aving Private Ryan鈥� and guest-starred on the TV shows 鈥淐urb Your Enthusiasm鈥� as himself as well as appearing on the show 鈥淒amages,鈥� for which he was nominated for three Emmys as a guest star.
