Chris Hemsworth joins female-led 'Ghostbusters' reboot as receptionist

Sony聽and director Paul Feig have cast聽Chris聽Hemsworth聽to play the receptionist in the female-driven "Ghostbusters" reboot.
Feig made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter.
Hemsworth聽is set to join聽Melissa McCarthy,聽Kristen Wiig,聽Kate McKinnon聽and聽Leslie Jones聽in the movie, which hits theaters next year.
Feig, whose new comedy "Spy" debuted to no. 1 at the U.S. box office, will direct the next installment in the "Ghosbusters" franchise on a script co-written by聽Katie Dippold.
Story details are unknown other than the reboot centers on the next generation of聽Ghostbusters, who happen to be female.聽Ivan Reitman聽will produce the action-comedy.
Insiders say the studio went to聽Hemsworth聽very early on in the process for one of the major male roles but the Aussie actor passed because the role was too small. Since then聽Sony聽sent the script back to be reworked so the part could be beefed up.
Production on "Ghostbusters" to start later this summer with the film scheduled to bow on July 22, 2016.
Known more for his action heavy role like "Thor," "Snow White and聽the Huntsman" and the upcoming "In the Heart of the Sea,"聽Hemsworth聽is said to be wanting to broaden his brand and get into more comedies starting with his juicy role in the upcoming "Vacation" reboot, which opens this July.
Besides "Vacation" and "In the Heart of the Sea" which bows this December,聽Hemsworth聽also has "The Huntsman," which he is currently filming. He is repped by CAA and ROAR.
