New clues point to an upcoming Nokia phablet

At 9 in the morning Tuesday 鈥 UK time 鈥 Nokia will take the wraps off a new device.聽
What kind of device? Well, the Finnish company is staying mum on the specifics. Our only clues are a on the Nokia Conversations blog with an even shorter headline: "Something BIG landing here tomorrow."聽
But smart money is on a new oversized smart phone, or phablet. As Chris Davies of Slashgear , a Windows Phone 8-equipped phablet known as the Nokia Lumia 625 recently passed radio certification in China, which could be the first step in a wider roll-out of the device. The 625 is to be equipped with a聽dual-core Qualcomm聽processor, 512MB of RAM, and a聽4.7-inch display, putting it firmly in phablet territory.聽

In related news, Nokia recently posted its Q2 2013 results, and the figures were pretty gloomy: revenues, a 24 percent dip in overall sales. But there was a bright spot, and it came in the form in the Lumia line. According to Nokia, 7.4 million Lumia handsets were shipped in the second quarter of the fiscal year, a record for the company, and validation for its Windows-powered flagship smart phone.聽
Still, Nokia has plenty of ground to make up in the US, where it lags far behind rivals Apple and Samsung.聽
