A young聽sea聽lion聽found severely wounded on a beach in Peru's聽capital was returned to his Pacific home Wednesday after six weeks of care by an animal advocacy group.
The 1陆-year-old male聽sea聽lion, nicknamed Ringo, was found by Peruvian members of the Organization for Research and Conversation of Aquatic Animals in April with serious injuries to its head and left eye. Members of the group suspected fisherman beat the animal.
On Wednesday, members of the group carried Ringo to a coast guard boat, which delivered him to an island populated by dozens of聽sea聽lions. Ringo promptly jumped into the Pacific to join them.
