Apple iPad: One million sold

Only 28 days after first hitting the market, sales of theiPad has surpassed one million, Apple announced Monday.

Apple announced Monday that it has already sold one million iPads since the tablet computer hit the market 28 days ago.

The latest news of Apple's with the comes on the heels of cancellations of planned tablets from Microsoft 鈥� billed as the Courier 鈥� and the .

Even Apple appears somewhat surprised by the meteoric rise of its newest product. "One million iPads in 28 days 鈥� that's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with [the] iPhone," Apple's CEO Steve Jobs commented in a press release.

Buyers have also scooped up 12 million from the App Store, Apple said. In an encouraging sign for the book publishing industry, 1.5 million have also been digitally plucked from the shelves of the iBook store.
