Many Americans are fascinated by the British royal family – in a way that rises above partisan differences. So, with King Charles III set to arrive in Washington on Monday for a state visit, all eyes will be on his dealings with President Donald Trump. The two will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
But, as Ned Temko observes from London, the king also comes with a high-stakes political goal: to help repair the schism in the “special relationship” between the two governments over the Iran war.
