Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Eye on the West Bank

Military operations in refugee camps. Electricity and water lines cut. Strikes on residential neighborhoods. It sounds like what鈥檚 transpired in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023. But as correspondents Dina Kraft and Taylor Luck report today, these events are happening in the West Bank, where Israel鈥檚 鈥淚ron Wall鈥� campaign is underway, displacing some 40,000 people.
