Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

How we鈥檒l cover Tuesday鈥檚 elections

On Tuesday, we will cover the U.S. elections a little differently. We expect huge demand for information, as well as a desire for sources that won鈥檛 incite, frighten, or put a thumb on the partisan scale. So we will put a significant amount of our effort into live updates, which will be calm, insightful, short takes on key news with important analysis or context.
