Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

When war hits hard

It can be extremely difficult, and an act of bravery, to write about personal loss amid a war that is affecting millions of people. In our lead story, two Monitor correspondents 鈥撀燚ina Kraft in Israel and Ghada Abdulfattah in Gaza 鈥撀爏hare how the news of the past few days, of hostages killed and homes leveled, transformed their lives forever.
