Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

That is why I encourage you to read Ghada Abdulfattah鈥檚 story of her flight to safety. She鈥檚 been writing about internal displacement in Gaza for weeks. Yet there is something about someone鈥檚 own story 鈥� the story of someone we know 鈥� that shakes and awakens.
It is not the Monitor鈥檚 job to decide for nations or readers the matters of war and security. But it is the Monitor鈥檚 job never to accept that inhumanity anywhere must be inevitable.聽
