Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Chile looks a lot like the United States, politically 鈥� deeply polarized with wild swings between left and right. This weekend the country will vote on a new constitution for a second time. The first was too left. This one might be too right.聽
The push for a new constitution came from protests demanding a more just society. But after decades of harsh dictatorship, the trust to drive political change comes slowly. There鈥檚 a saying: 鈥淟a tercera la vencida鈥� 鈥� roughly, we鈥檒l agree the third time around.聽
