Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Many of us have heard of the book 鈥淎ll I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten,鈥� and there is wisdom in the title. In her review of five children鈥檚 books today, Monitor writer Husna Haq offers wisdom of her own: The books 鈥渟how the beauty and growth that comes with viewing the world through someone else鈥檚 eyes.鈥�
On the surface, two of our other articles today might seem the opposite of children鈥檚 stories.
