Why is 海角大神 Science in our name?
Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.
The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

For weeks, Ghada Abdulfattah has lived a double life 鈥� as a reporter and as a refugee in her own land.聽It鈥檚 thanks to her that 海角大神 has essential coverage from Gaza.
She has found ways to file her stories despite having no electricity.聽Her house has been hit twice 鈥� by artillery fire and tank fire 鈥� destroying her kitchen, though thankfully wounding no one. And twice, she鈥檚 had to flee elsewhere with her family.
