This graph shows ADP鈥檚 total private (nonfarm) payrolls since 2001 (blue line) as well as the year-over-year (light green area) and month-to-month (dark green area) percent change. The recovery has been slow, as the blue line crawled upwards, but December saw the largest one-month employment increase in a decade.

Looking at the chart ( for full-screen dynamic version) showing ADP鈥檚 total private nonfarm payrolls since 2001 as well as the year-over-year and month-to-month percent change, you can see that the so-called 鈥渞ecovery鈥 has been anemic.

Perusing you can see the the economy is currently showing the most growth for small to mid-sized service providing jobs with goods-producing jobs remaining near trough levels.

Look for Friday鈥檚 BLS Employment Situation Report to likely show somewhat similar trends.
