Can we fix the deficit? Yes, we can!
I couldn鈥檛 help but think of Bob the Builder鈥檚 motto (鈥滳an we fix it? Yes, we can!鈥�) as he floated down the street behind my daughter and her fellow ballet dancers at our local Thanksgiving parade. Bob鈥檚 got a 鈥渃an do鈥� attitude because he knows it just takes hard work and the right tools.
When it comes to the tough task of reducing the federal deficit, the same saying goes. In some of our favorite 鈥渢ools鈥� offered by the fiscal commissions toward this goal of fiscal sustainability, and explaining why although the situation is not yet a 鈥渃risis,鈥� we shouldn鈥檛 push our luck; why we鈥檒l need all our 鈥渢ools鈥�; and why the solutions are not that impossible and the seemingly disparate goals not that contradictory.
So yes, we can! But will we?
