States with the best (and worst) job growth

Some states have fared much better than others in reducing their unemployment rates in the past year. Can you guess which boom state was among those that backtracked?

Civilian labor force population: 6,578,800

May 2013 unemployment rate: 9.1 percent

Illinois is making up for a rocky start to 2013. January and February saw the jobless rate rise, stagnate in March, then fall again in April and May. Government officials attributed the disappointment of the early months to cold, wet weather leading to weaker than expected construction activity. Despite the most recent, Illinois' unemployment remains among  the highest in the US.
