It鈥檚 been a good year so far for the Big 3 automakers, which saw their year-over-year sales buoyed by brisk sales of pickup trucks in April. Ford鈥檚 European sales fell last year and the company had to close factories and lay off thousands of workers there. But Ford boasts the top-selling car in the world, the Focus, and sales of its F-Series pickups increased 24 percent since last year. It sold 2,250,165 cars and light pickups in the Untied States in 2012.
The Fortune 500 list for 2013 has a few big changes from last year. There鈥檚 a new top company, which will come at the end of this list. Bankrupt Eastman Kodak, which had been included on the list every year in the list's 58-year existence, is off for the first time. Facebook made its Fortune 500 debut, and Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest CEO featured. Yahoo鈥檚 Marissa Mayer is the youngest woman. The oldest CEO is Dole鈥檚 David H. Murdock, a nonagenarian. The Fortune list ranks US companies who file financial reports with a government agency based on their revenues from the previous fiscal year. This year鈥檚 Top 10 includes four energy companies, two automakers, one software company, a retailer, and two conglomerates with their hands in a multitude of industries.
