Does your morning commute need a little boost? How about a presidential car?
No, not the official limo. But on eBay you can get from 2004 to 2007, when he announced his bid for the White House.
So buy a piece of history, complete with leather seats, a sunroof, and a spotless accident record!
There's just one potential problem. The minimum bid is $1 million.聽And forget a payment plan: The full $1 million would be due to the seller 10 days after purchase.
The car is being sold by an anonymous owner and was posted by veteran eBay Motors seller Lisa Czibor, (username cubfanatic23) in the Chicago area.聽So far there are zero bids for the vehicle, which will be listed until Feb. 1.
According to the seller description, the car comes with 鈥渢he original paperwork and the title showing that this vehicle was actually used by Barack.鈥�
Ms. Czibor goes on to caution: 鈥淭his auction is a serious auction, and please keep it as such. eBay is not a playground. We understand that many in this great country of ours have differing political views. Please keep your comments concerning the upcoming election out of this eBay auction, this is not the proper arena for those opinions.鈥�
No wonder Czibor, who assures us that she is a 鈥渓ife-long Ronald Reagan old-school Conservative鈥� and 鈥渁 free market Capitalist doing whatever [she] can,鈥� has a 100 percent positive feedback rating for her eBay work.
Per Czibor鈥檚 request, let鈥檚 put politics aside. Is the prepresidential Chrysler really worth $1 million?
The Kelley Blue Book value of a 2005 Chrysler 300C in excellent condition with 20,800 is $16,558.
Even if the car is in excellent condition and has possible historical value, $1 million is pretty steep as an asking price. It's true that in聽2009, a Russian billionaire bought a blue Mercedes once owned by Adolf Hitler for $8 million, one of the examples used to justify the Obama Chrysler鈥檚 high price tag. But a聽Cadillac V-16 convertible used by Franklin Roosevelt as a presidential limousine was recently auctioned off for a paltry $270,000.
If you do spring for the car, you can do whatever you want with it afterward, Czibor says. She has a few suggestions: 鈥淵ou can put it in a museum鈥� you could have a Hollywood Stuntman drive the Obama car off a cliff to represent Obama's economic strategies 鈥� whatever you want once it's bought & paid for,鈥� the ad says.
