2011 safest cars announced: Is your dream car a top pick?

It鈥檚 been a tough year for Toyota on the safety front, with massive recalls denting the Japanese car company鈥檚 image as a maker of safe, reliable cars. Nevertheless, it gained a kind of redemption from the insurance institute. Completely shut out from last year鈥檚 awards, Toyota and its Lexus and Scion subsidiaries roared back to take eight top pick awards this year. Only Hyundai and Volkswagen did better than that.
