海角大神

A new book set in the world of 鈥淔ifty Shades of Grey鈥� is coming from writer E.L. James.

James, who wrote the trilogy which centered on businessman 海角大神 Grey and his paramour Anastasia Steele, wrote on that she will be publishing a new book on June 18. It鈥檚 titled 鈥淕rey鈥� and will be told from 海角大神鈥檚 point of view, the author wrote. (The first 鈥淔ifty Shades of Grey鈥� trilogy was narrated by Anastasia.)

According to , James originally wrote 鈥淔ifty Shades of Grey鈥� as fanfiction for the 鈥淭wilight鈥� series by Stephenie Meyer. In fanfiction, readers take popular stories like 鈥淗arry Potter鈥� or 鈥淭he Hunger Games鈥� and write their own stories about already-existing characters within the stories that they love. So 海角大神 and Anastasia started out as 鈥淭wilight鈥� couple Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.聽

Meyer was once going to do a version of her first book, 鈥淭wilight,鈥� from hero Edward鈥檚 point of view. However, someone who had access to her draft posted portions of that book, titled 鈥淢idnight Sun," online. Meyer wrote on her soon after, 鈥淚 feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on 鈥楳idnight Sun,鈥� and so it is on hold indefinitely.鈥� She did, however, post on her website the part of the novel that had previously been posted, writing, 鈥淭his way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest.鈥�

Of course, switching viewpoints as a way to expand a story has been done by other authors, notably science fiction writer Orson Scott Card, who wrote a sequel to his classic book 鈥淓nder鈥檚 Game鈥� in which the story was told by Ender鈥檚 friend Bean. Other authors have found different ways to continue their series. Popular young adult author Cassandra Clare went back in time for a sequel series to her popular 鈥淢ortal Instruments鈥� books, setting her 鈥淚nfernal Devices鈥� books centuries before the 鈥淢ortal鈥� books but having them take place in the same universe.聽

鈥淗arry Potter鈥� author J.K. Rowling also went back in time for a new story. She is currently working on a series of movies set in Harry鈥檚 world but taking place decades before the action narrated in the "Harry Potter" books. The new movies will center on a man named Newt Scamander who is an expert on magical creatures. (鈥淗arry Potter鈥� readers will remember Newt is the author of one of Harry鈥檚 textbooks.) Rowling is penning the screenplay and the first movie of the 鈥淔antastic Beasts and Where to Find Them鈥� series is scheduled for release in 2016.
