Carrie Brownstein's memoir is coming this October
Musician and actress Carrie Brownstein will reportedly release her memoir this fall.
Brownstein, who is a guitarist for the band Sleater-Kinney and stars on the IFC series 鈥�Portlandia,鈥� will publish the book 鈥淗unger Makes Me a Modern Girl鈥� in October. It will be released through Penguin, according to .听
However, while some TV viewers may know Brownstein most from 鈥淧ortlandia,鈥� Brownstein told NME that the show doesn鈥檛 figure much into her work.听
鈥淚t pretty much ends with Sleater-Kinney going on hiatus, and a little bit of leading on from that,鈥� she said. 鈥淏ut it doesn't even really go onto聽鈥楶ortlandia.鈥欌��
According to Penguin, the book will be a 鈥渄eeply personal and revealing narrative of Brownstein鈥檚 life in music, from ardent fan to pioneering female guitarist to comedic performer and luminary in the independent rock world鈥� This book intimately captures what it feels like to be a young woman in a rock-and-roll band, from her days at the dawn of the underground feminist punk-rock movement that would define music and pop culture in the 1990s through today.鈥�
Brownstein stars on 鈥淧ortlandia鈥� with 鈥淪aturday Night Live鈥� actor Fred Armisen. The show has the two take on various roles.
Sleater-Kinney released their first album in the 1990s and there was a large gap of time between their 2005 work, 鈥淭he Woods,鈥� and their newest album, 鈥淣o Cities To Love,鈥� which came out this past January.听
Sleater-Kinney鈥檚 newest album received mostly positive reviews and currently holds a stellar score of 90 out of 100 on the review aggregator website . writer Rob Sheffield called the new album 鈥渆xcellent鈥� [the band] called it quits in 2006, after a 12-year run as America's fiercest punk band.
