A trailer has been released for the upcoming movie, 鈥淢r. Holmes.鈥澛
鈥淴-Men: Days of Future Past鈥 actor Ian McKellen portrays the famous detective in the new movie, which finds Sherlock retired. He tends bees as described in author Arthur Conan Doyle鈥檚 original stories and appears to be having problems with his memory 鈥 the trailer shows him writing the name of his housekeeper鈥檚 son, with whom he is close, on his shirtsleeve so as not to forget it.
A case he worked on years ago continues to intrigue him, though the details are unclear to him as his memory fades. Holmes tries to remember the details of the case and bring the mystery to a close.聽
The film co-stars actress Laura Linney and Milo Parker as well as actors Hattie Morahan, Patrick Kennedy, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Colin Starkey of 鈥淏roadside鈥 takes on the role of Holmes鈥 best friend, John Watson.
The director of the movie, Bill Condon, has previously been behind such films as 鈥淭he Fifth Estate,鈥 鈥淭he Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 鈥 Part 1鈥 and 鈥淧art 2,鈥 and 鈥淒reamgirls.鈥
Sherlock Holmes has, of course, been everywhere on big and small screens within the last several years 鈥 鈥淭he Judge鈥 actor Robert Downey Jr. portrayed the detective, with actor Jude Law as his sidekick Watson, in the 2009 movie 鈥淪herlock Holmes鈥 and the 2011 sequel 鈥淪herlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,鈥 while actor Benedict Cumberbatch took on the role for the BBC TV series, which is still running, with 鈥淔argo鈥 actor Martin Freeman as Watson. Meanwhile, CBS鈥檚 鈥淓lementary,鈥 which is currently airing its third season, has actor Jonny Lee Miller portraying Sherlock and, in a twist, actress Lucy Liu as Joan Watson.聽
鈥淢r. Holmes鈥 is scheduled to be released in June in the UK and according to the website , the film will be released in the US sometime later this year.
