'J.K. Rowling Bibliography' reveals behind-the-scenes 'Harry Potter' stories

A new bibliography for J.K. Rowling鈥檚 work is reportedly revealing more about the 鈥淗arry Potter鈥 author鈥檚 writing process and including some fun facts for fans.
鈥淛.K. Rowling: A Bibliography 1997-2013鈥 was released in late February in the UK and is coming to the US in April. According to publisher , the book has 鈥渃omplete bibliographic details of each edition of all her books, pamphlets and original contributions to published works, there is detailed information on the publishing history of her work, including fascinating extracts from correspondence.鈥澛
One thing readers are learning from the book, according to the , is that Rowling got 鈥渟ick鈥 of the third 鈥淧otter鈥 book, 鈥淗arry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,鈥 after a long editing process. 鈥淔inally!鈥 Rowling wrote in a letter to her editor Emma Matthewson. 鈥淚鈥檝e read this book so much I鈥檓 sick of it, I never read either of the others over and over again when editing them, but I really had to this time,鈥 writing in a separate letter, 鈥淚 am so sick of re-reading this one that I鈥檒l be hard put to smile when it comes to doing public readings from it. But perhaps the feeling will have worn off by next summer.鈥澛
In addition, according to 鈥淏ibliography,鈥 alternate titles to the fourth installment, 鈥淗arry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,鈥欌 included 鈥淗arry Potter and the Death Eaters,鈥 鈥淗arry Potter and the Fire Goblet,鈥 and 鈥淗arry Potter and the Three Champions.鈥澛
鈥淏ibliography鈥 also includes information on a song that ghost Nearly Headless Nick was to have delivered in the second book 鈥淗arry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,鈥 a section that was cut from the narrative. (It鈥檚 now online.)
The book is more than 500 pages and the author, Philip W. Errington, is director for children's books in the department of printed Books and manuscripts at Sotheby's.
