'Bosch' TV series is inspired by Michael Connelly's book series

The new Amazon series 鈥淏osch鈥 is inspired by the books by Michael Connelly that detail the experiences of Los Angeles police detective Harry Bosch.
Connelly鈥檚 most recently published book about the character is 鈥淭he Burning Room,鈥 with a new one, 鈥淭he Crossing,鈥 due this November, according to the author鈥檚 .听
Amazon received recent acclaim for its TV series 鈥淭ransparent鈥 鈥 the show was widely well-received critically and received the Golden Globe for best TV comedy or musical series last month. 鈥淭ransparent鈥 actor Jeffrey Tambor also took the best actor in a musical or comedy award.听
Amazon鈥檚 TV show 鈥淏osch鈥 stars actor Titus Welliver of 鈥淭ransformers: Age of Extinction鈥 as the detective. Connelly told that he felt the books about Harry Bosch were well-suited to a TV program.
鈥淗opefully if you鈥檝e got a show on TV, you do more 鈥 you get more hours to show the character,鈥 he said.
Connelly said he was impressed when he met with Amazon鈥檚 Joe Lewis, who is head of original programming, and Amazon studios chief Roy Price. The two suggested plots and storylines for the show. 鈥淭hat could have only come from someone who knew the books,鈥 Connelly said.听
According to Variety, the writer wanted the show to be filmed in Los Angeles. 鈥淚t鈥檚 Harry鈥檚 world 鈥 he鈥檚 a creature of this city,鈥 Welliver said of the choice. 鈥淟.A. is a character in this. You can鈥檛 cheat, you really can鈥檛.鈥澛
Meanwhile, he told the that he thinks Harry Bosch is a character people would recognize.听
鈥淗arry Bosch doesn鈥檛 drive a Ferrari, and he doesn鈥檛 drink champagne or wear a tuxedo,鈥 he said. 鈥淎nd there鈥檚 no reason for him to do that. That鈥檚 what makes him sort of attainable. He鈥檚 a very, very real, real guy."聽
Amazon put all 10 episodes of the show鈥檚 first season online on Feb. 13.
