'Shannara' MTV series adds cast members

The MTV adaptation of Terry Brooks鈥檚 鈥淪hannara鈥� fantasy series is moving forward.聽

According to , actor Austin Butler of 鈥淭he Carrie Diaries鈥� will portray protagonist Wil Ohmsford, who is actually part of the mystical Shannara family. 鈥�The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey鈥� actor Manu Bennett is playing the druid Allanon, while 鈥淒own Dog鈥� actress Poppy Drayton will portray the elf Amberle and John Rhys-Davies of the 鈥�Lord of the Rings鈥� films is playing the elven king Eventine Elessedil.

The first book in Brooks鈥檚 series, 鈥�The Sword of Shannara,鈥� was released in the 1970s and multiple series set in the world of 鈥淪hannara鈥� have been written by the author. The newest, 鈥淭he Darkling Child,鈥� is set to be released this June, according to the author鈥檚 .
