'War and Peace' will air on British radio on New Year's Day
Is your New Year鈥檚 resolution to refresh your memory of classic Russian novels 鈥� or maybe learn the stories in the first place? The BBC鈥檚 Radio 4 can help you out.
On New Year鈥檚 Day, Radio 4 will be broadcasting a 10-hour radio adaptation of Leo Tolstoy鈥檚 鈥淲ar and Peace,鈥� according to . This version will star 鈥淪nowpiercer鈥� actor John Hurt and 鈥淧enny Dreadful鈥� actor Simon Russell Beale. The adaptation will be briefly broken up by other programming such as the news.
According to the , Radio 4 controller Gwyneth Williams called 鈥淲ar and Peace鈥� 鈥渁rguably the best book ever written.鈥�
鈥淚f you haven't made the journey through it, Radio 4 thinks you are missing out,鈥� Williams said of the program.聽
It will air between 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the UK.
