A new trailer has been released for the upcoming 鈥淗obbit鈥 film, 鈥The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.鈥
As book fans know, the title comes from a conflict that occurs near the end of the book by 鈥Lord of the Rings鈥 author J.R.R. Tolkien. The previous film, 鈥淭he Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,鈥 ended with the dragon Smaug flying off to the human settlement Lake-town, presumably to attack it. The battle results when goblins and Wargs come to fight the forces of good, such as the men of Lake-town and Wood-elves, though there are plenty of disagreements between the men, elves, and dwarves beforehand.
The trailer shows the disagreements other dwarves and protagonist Bilbo (Martin Freeman) have with the dwarf leader Thorin (Richard Armitage).听
鈥淵ou鈥檝e won the mountain, is that not enough?鈥 Bilbo asks him.
Meanwhile, as the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) tries to discover the truth about villain Sauron, his fellow wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee) reassures him, 鈥淟eave Sauron to me.鈥 (As 鈥淟ord of the Rings鈥 fans know, this is a terrible idea.)聽
And Thranduil (Lee Pace), leader of the Wood-elves, isn鈥檛 happy with the situation with the dwarves.
鈥淵ou started this,鈥 he tells Gandalf. 鈥淵ou will forgive me if I finish it.鈥澛
鈥淎rmies鈥 will come to theaters on Dec. 17. Check out the full trailer above.
