Tom Hanks will release a short story collection

Hanks said his collection will be related to his collection of typewriters, 'not about the typewriters themselves, but rather the stories are something that might have been written on one of them.'

Tom Hanks recently published a story in The New Yorker.

Actor Tom Hanks is continuing his foray into fiction.

Hanks is publishing a collection of short stories related to his collection of typewriters, which he said in a he鈥檚 been gathering since 1978. The book will be published by Alfred A. Knopf.

鈥淭he stories are not about the typewriters themselves, but rather the stories are something that might have been written on one of them,鈥 Hanks said in the statement.

The actor recently published a short story 鈥 his fiction debut, according to 鈥 titled 鈥淎lan Bean Plus Four.鈥澛

According to the , a release date for the untitled short story collection was not announced.聽

Hanks also wrote the screenplay for the 1996 movie 鈥That Thing You Do!鈥 and co-wrote the script for the 2011 movie 鈥Larry Crowne,鈥 both of which he directed, as well as other work.

He recently starred as Walt Disney in the 2013 movie 鈥Saving Mr. Banks鈥 and will be reprising his role of Robert Langdon in the adaptation of Dan Brown鈥檚 novel 鈥The Lost Symbol鈥 as well as starring in the film adaptation of Dave Eggers鈥 novel 鈥淎 Hologram for the King.鈥
