Anthony Horowitz will write a new James Bond novel
Author Anthony Horowitz is being entrusted with another well-known British literary property.
Horowitz, who wrote the well-received 鈥淪herlock Holmes鈥� novel 鈥淭he House of Silk鈥� that was sanctioned by the Arthur Conan Doyle estate, is writing a new 鈥淛ames Bond鈥� book that鈥檚 approved by the estate of original 鈥淏ond鈥� author Ian Fleming. According to the , Horowitz is working off an unpublished piece given to him by the Fleming estate. The piece is titled 鈥淢urder on Wheels鈥� and has the superspy facing off against Russians in the world of Formula One, according to the . It was supposed to be for a planned 鈥淏ond鈥� TV series. However, the book is titled "Project One" for now, according to the Guardian.
鈥淲hen the estate approached me to write a new James Bond novel how could I possibly refuse?鈥� Horowitz said, according to the .鈥淚t鈥檚 a huge challenge ... but having original, unpublished material by Fleming has been an inspiration.鈥澛�
Jessie Grimond, the great-niece of Fleming, told the BBC, 鈥淕iven that Anthony is as brilliant a screenwriter as he is a novelist, we thought it would be exciting to see what he would do with one [of the episodes].鈥澛�
Horowitz is the creator of the British TV show 鈥淔oyle鈥檚 War鈥� and also writes for the show. In addition, he wrote for other programs such as 鈥淢idsomer Murders," 鈥淐ollision,鈥� and 鈥淚njustice鈥� and is behind the 鈥淎lex Rider鈥� book series and the 鈥淒iamond Brothers鈥� series, among other works. He is releasing another 鈥淪herlock Holmes鈥� novel, titled 鈥淢oriarty鈥� after one of the detective鈥檚 most famous enemies, at the end of this month.聽
