Jennifer Lee, the co-director and co-writer of Disney鈥檚 2013 animated hit 鈥淔rozen,鈥 will come aboard to write a script for a film version of Madeleine L鈥橢ngle鈥檚 classic children鈥檚 novel 鈥淎 Wrinkle in Time," according to .听
鈥淎 Wrinkle in Time鈥 follows Meg Murry, her brother Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin who, with the help of three witches, try to rescue Meg and Charles Wallace鈥檚 scientist father, who disappeared after working on a mysterious project.
The novel was previously adapted by Disney as a made-for-TV movie in 2003 which aired on ABC. It starred Katie Stuart of 鈥淴-Men 2鈥 and 鈥淓verwood鈥 actor Gregory Smith as well as Alfre Woodard, Kate Nelligan, and Alison Elliott as the witches.
According to Variety, Lee 鈥渋mpressed Disney executives with her take on the project, which emphasizes a strong female-driven narrative and creatively approaches the science fiction and world-building elements of the book.鈥
鈥淎 Wrinkle in Time鈥 was published in 1962 and won a Newbery Medal the following year.
