A prequel to 'The Shining' will reportedly be the subject of a film

The 1980 movie 鈥The Shining,鈥 based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, remains a cinema classic, and King released a sequel to his novel titled 鈥淒octor Sleep鈥 this past fall. So now Hollywood is looking backward to before the story of the Torrance family.
According to , Warner Bros. is set to release a film titled 鈥淥verlook Hotel鈥 that鈥檚 based on a prologue King originally wrote for 鈥淪hining.鈥 The text delves into the story of Bob T. Watson, the first owner of the Overlook Hotel where Jack Torrance becomes the caretaker. As noted by Entertainment Weekly, the prequel was later published in Whispers Magazine, this time titled 鈥淏efore the Play.鈥
鈥淣ever Let Me Go鈥 director Mark Romanek is in talks to direct, according to Variety, while Glen Mazzara, former showrunner for the AMC series 鈥The Walking Dead,鈥 is behind the script.
In addition to its adaptation by director Stanley Kubrick, 鈥淪hining鈥 was adapted as a miniseries for ABC in 1997.聽
