Author Judy Blume will reportedly publish a new book for adults in 2015, her first for an adult audience in more than 15 years and her first book overall since 2009.
Blume released the adult book 鈥淪ummer Sisters鈥 in 1998, and Blume鈥檚 editor Carole Baron told the that the new novel is 鈥減ure Judy Blume, writing about family and about friendships, about love, about betrayal. It鈥檚 quintessential Judy.鈥
The writer said in a that she is 鈥渂oth thrilled and terrified, my usual feelings at this point. I鈥檒l be hiding out this summer revising, my favorite part of the process.鈥
Blume鈥檚 last work was the book for younger readers titled 鈥淔riend or Fiend? with the Pain and the Great One,鈥 which came out in 2009.聽
The author鈥檚 other books for adults include 鈥淪mart Women鈥 and 鈥淲ifey,鈥 while her books for younger readers include the classics 鈥淎re You There God? It鈥檚 Me, Margaret,鈥 鈥淏lubber,鈥 and the 鈥淔udge鈥 series.
Last summer, Blume was the honoree of the holiday 鈥Blumesday,鈥 which was created by authors Joanna Miller and Heather Larimer in imitation of the 鈥淏loomsday鈥 celebration that James Joyce fans hold on the day on which Joyce鈥檚 novel 鈥淯lysses鈥 takes place. This year, Blumesday festivities were once again held in Portland, Ore., on June 17.
