'Goosebumps' film adaptation is set to star Jack Black
鈥淕oosebumps鈥� may be coming soon to a movie theater near you.
A film adaptation of the popular children鈥檚 horror series by R.L. Stine will star 鈥淏ernie鈥� actor Jack Black as an author named Mr. Shivers, according to . Mr. Shivers, who writes scary stories, finds that the creatures he wrote about are now popping off the page and his niece (Odeya Rush of 鈥淭he Giver鈥�) must figure out how to fight them.聽
Rob Letterman, who previously directed Black in the 2010 film 鈥淕ulliver鈥檚 Travels鈥� as well as directing the 2009 movie 鈥淢onsters and Aliens,鈥� is set to helm the adaptation.
鈥淕oosebumps鈥� was previously adapted into a TV series that aired from 1995 to 1998. The original series started with 1992鈥檚 鈥淲elcome to Dead House鈥� and various spin-off series were released, such as 鈥淕ive Yourself Goosebumps鈥� (similar to the 鈥淐hoose Your Own Adventure鈥� series) and 鈥淕oosebumps Series 2000,鈥� which Stine billed as even more frightening than the original books.
