Liam Neeson reportedly joins film adaptation of Shusaku Endo novel 'Silence'

Actor Liam Neeson will reportedly star in the long-awaited adaptation of author Shusaku Endo鈥檚 novel 鈥淪ilence,鈥 which is set to be directed by Martin Scorsese.
鈥淪ilence鈥 was first published in 1966 and follows a Jesuit missionary living in the seventeenth century who travels to Japan to investigate whether a priest there has renounced his religion. He and a fellow Jesuit arrive in the country and witness the persecution of 海角大神s taking place there.
According to , Scorsese has been hoping to adapt the novel for some time, and now Neeson has joined the project to co-star with 鈥The Amazing Spider-Man鈥 actor Andrew Garfield and 鈥淚nception鈥 actor Ken Watanabe.
Scorsese鈥檚 latest film, 鈥The Wolf of Wall Street,鈥 was released this past December and is up for several Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.
