'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' is almost here. How to celebrate like a hobbit
With the release of the second 鈥淗obbit鈥� movie, 鈥�The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,鈥� taking place tomorrow, are you feeling an urge to decorate your home like a hobbit-hole? Or perhaps to prepare some Middle-earth-friendly foods?
writer Beth Accomando recently shared a menu for a 鈥淗obbit鈥� celebration that divided its offerings into the traditional list of hobbit meals (that would be first breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper). Accomando likes to structure her 鈥淗obbit鈥� meals around an all-day viewing of the extended versions of the 鈥�Lord of the Rings鈥� films.聽
However, Accomando warns, the multi-course meal聽will inevitably produce soporific effects.
鈥淲ear comfortable clothes and have your guests bring blankets and pillows for the inevitable food coma to follow,鈥� she suggests. 鈥淏y the end of the day, you will have newfound respect for hobbits and their seemingly bottomless ability to graze.鈥�
Recipes offered by Accomando include those for Beorn鈥檚 Honey Nut Cake (鈥淗obbit鈥� character Beorn, a man who can turn into a bear, will pop up for the first time in 鈥淪maug鈥�), the elves鈥� lembas bread, Balin鈥檚 spiced beef (named after the dwarf who travels with Bilbo), and ten cup Ranger cookies, named for the group of wanderers who were led by Aragorn of 鈥淟ord of the Rings.鈥澛�
