'Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell' TV adaptation adds actors

The TV adaptation of 鈥淛onathan Strange and Mr. Norrell鈥 is getting closer to the small screen.
Susanna Clarke鈥檚 novel is being adapted by BBC One and BBC America and will star actor Eddie Marsan of 鈥淪herlock Holmes鈥 and the TV series 鈥淩ay Donovan鈥 as Mr. Norrell. Bertie Carvel, who starred in the Broadway adaptation of 鈥淢atilda鈥 as Miss Trunchbull and appeared in the the 2012 film version of 鈥淟es Miserables," will portray Jonathan Strange.
Other actors set to appear in the TV series, which is scheduled to begin filming this week, include 鈥淏eautiful Creatures鈥 actress Alice Englert as Lady Pole and 鈥淕ame of Thrones鈥 actor Paul Kaye as Vinculus. The show is set to be a seven-part series.
鈥淪trange鈥 focuses on two magicians who reside in a Napoleonic Europe where magic still flourishes. Mr. Norrell takes Jonathan as a student but Mr. Norrell and Jonathan鈥檚 different views of magic begin to endanger their partnership.
The novel was first released in 2004.
