'American Psycho' sequel could come to FX

FX is developing a TV sequel series to the 2000 film 鈥American Psycho,鈥 which starred 海角大神 Bale and was based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel of the same name.
The original story took place in the 1980s and centered on Patrick Bateman, an investment banker who was also a murderer. The TV show would be set many years after the original movie and would center on Patrick, now in his 50s, taking on a student 鈥渨ho will become every bit his equal,鈥 according to .
The script will be written by Stefan Jaworski.
No word on whether Bale will return as Patrick.
Upon its publication, the novel met with controversy because of its content and its sales are restricted in some other countries such as Australia, where it can only be sold to people over 18.
鈥淎merican Psycho鈥 also starred Willem Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, and Chloe Sevigny and was well-received critically. However, said of the film, 鈥淎merican Psycho was a book I didn鈥檛 think needed to be turned into a movie鈥 I think the problem with American Psycho was that it was conceived as鈥 a literary work with a very unreliable narrator at the center of it and the medium of film demands answers.鈥
A sequel to the original film, titled 鈥淎merican Psycho 2: All American Girl,鈥 was released in 2002 and starred Mila Kunis as a murderous student who wants to become the assistant for her college class. In 鈥淕irl,鈥 actor Michael Kremko took on the role of Patrick.
The book has also been adapted into a musical with music and lyrics by 鈥淪pring Awakening鈥 composer Duncan Sheik, which is set to premiere in London this December.
FX is currently the home of shows such as 鈥淎merican Horror Story,鈥 鈥淪ons of Anarchy,鈥 and 鈥淚t鈥檚 Always Sunny in Philadelphia鈥 and was also behind past programs including 鈥淣ip/Tuck,鈥 鈥淭he Shield,鈥 and 鈥淩escue Me.鈥
