A new trailer for 'Divergent' has arrived
A new trailer for the film adaptation of the first book in Veronica Roth鈥檚 young adult trilogy, 鈥淒ivergent,鈥� was recently released at the MTV Video Music Awards.听
The clip, which is slightly longer than a minute, opens with Kate Winslet portraying Jeanine Matthews, the leader of one of the factions in the novel. (Modern-day Chicago is divided into five factions in Roth鈥檚 world, and people join based on their traits.)
鈥淭he future belongs to those who know where they belong,鈥� Winslet says.
鈥淭he Spectacular Now鈥� actress Shailene Woodley stars in the film as Tris, a teenager who finds she doesn鈥檛 fit neatly into one faction. Actor Theo James stars as Four, an instructor who trains Tris to fight, and 鈥淪pectacular鈥� actor Miles Teller plays Peter, who doesn鈥檛 believe Tris belongs in her new faction. The movie is being directed by 鈥淟imitless鈥� helmer Neil Burger.
Roth has released the first two books in her planned trilogy and the third, 鈥淎llegiant,鈥� is scheduled to be released Oct. 22.
The movie 鈥淒ivergent鈥� will come to theaters March 21.听
