'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' goes to the big screen via Disney

Relative unknown Ed Oxenbould will play Alexander, while Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner will be portraying the protagonist's parents.

'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' is a children's book by Judith Viorst.

Disney has found the child who will be having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

The studio is producing a film adaptation of Judith Viorst鈥檚 children鈥檚 book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day," which follows Alexander as he makes his way through a truly unfortunate series of events 鈥 everything from getting gum in his hair to finding nothing but people kissing on TV.

Actor Ed Oxenbould, who stars on the Australian TV series 鈥Puberty Blues,鈥 was recently cast as Alexander. Steve Carell of 鈥淭he Office鈥 and 鈥淭he Odd Life of Timothy Green鈥 actress Jennifer Garner had already come on board to play Alexander鈥檚 parents.

The film is being directed by Miguel Arteta, who also helmed the 2011 movie 鈥Youth in Revolt鈥 and has directed various episodes of TV shows such as the NBC program 鈥淭he New Normal.鈥

Disney is aiming for an October 2014 release date.
