Margaret Thatcher authorized biography gets a US release date
A two-volume biography of Margaret Thatcher by journalist Charles Moore 鈥� approved by the former prime minister herself 鈥� will soon be coming to United States.
The US title of the first section of the two-part biography will be 鈥淢argaret Thatcher: From Grantham to the Falklands鈥� (as opposed to the 鈥淢argaret Thatcher, The Authorized Biography 鈥� Volume 1鈥� UK title). The book will be released in America on May 21. It was acquired by Knopf for US publication from publisher Allen Lane, an imprint of Penguin which is releasing the title in the UK.

The new biography "sheds much new light on the whole spectrum of British political life from Thatcher鈥檚 entry into Parliament in 1959 to what was arguably the zenith of her power 鈥� victory in the Falklands in 1982," Knopf said in a . The publisher said of Moore's writing that he is "convincingly clear-eyed, conveying both how remarkable she was and how infuriating she could be."
Thatcher authorized Moore鈥檚 biography with the condition that it only be released after her death. In doing so, she gave him many interviews as well as access to some of her private papers, according to .
