Art Spiegelman: Don't call comics 'graphic novels'
Speaking to "a gaggle of British adult comic-book fans" at London's Institute for Contemporary Arts, Pulitzer Prize-winning comic book artist told his audience that he loves comic books but hates the term "graphic novels" because he finds it misleading.
鈥淚鈥檓 called the father of the modern graphic novel. If that鈥檚 true, I want a blood test,鈥 reports that he said. 鈥 'Graphic novel鈥 sounds more respectable, but I prefer 鈥榗omics鈥 because it credits the medium. [鈥楥omics鈥橾 is a dumb word, but that鈥檚 what they are.鈥
