I just finished a reread of Donna Leon鈥檚 series of 鈥減olice procedurals鈥� set in Venice and featuring Commissario Guido Brunetti. What a joy they are! The theme is love much more than crime: love of family; colleagues; food and drink; literature; and the streets, canals, and light of Venice. Oh yes 鈥� politics, graft, greed 鈥� all that good stuff too. Start at the beginning with Death at La Fenice; you won鈥檛 regret it.
