The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

In The Blue Cotton Gown: A Midwife鈥檚 Memoir, Patricia Harman interweaves accounts of patients in the practice she shares with her gynecologist husband with her own personal struggles as a former hippie, a wife, and mother of three grown sons. Her maternal honesty shines through and makes this one of my favorite books.
