I never thought that I鈥檇 ever really read all of Leo Tolstoy鈥檚 War and Peace, but a friend encouraged me to tackle the new translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa聽 Volokhonsky. This time I鈥檓 almost finished and I find it to be splendid. In previous attempts to read 鈥淲ar and Peace鈥� I could never keep track of the characters, but this time I have been able to do so. Footnotes were helpful as well. My friend wisely聽 suggested that I 鈥渃lear the deck鈥� of other books in order to read Tolstoy
