Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The 海角大神 Science Church, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

The Hunger Games

I just finished reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, in which a yearly lottery forces citizens of 12 districts to participate in a creepy 鈥淪urvivor鈥�-type game. It was one of the best books I鈥檝e read this year 鈥� and it was written for teens! The story had a nice blend of adventure, suspense, and romance. It made me think about the value of behaving humanely versus winning at any cost.聽 I had a hard time putting it down and am looking forward to the next two books in the series.
