The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

I enjoyed True North, Elliot Merrick and Lawrence Millman鈥檚 book about winter trekking in Labrador, so much that I penciled in page numbers at the back of the book for ease in rereading how to find one鈥檚 way in a blizzard, build an exquisite Indian sled, do portage, and survive icy waterfalls. Reading a book like this makes me proud to be a person.
