Mississippi Eyes: The Story and Photography of the Southern Documentary Project by Matt Herron is a large, fascinating book of black-and-white photographs of African Americans struggling against segregation in the deep American South in the 1960s. Herron鈥檚 cameras take us from Freedom Summer 1964 in Mississippi to聽the聽struggle in聽Selma, Alabama, with聽photographs of Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace and powerful civil rights icons like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and future US Congressman John Lewis,聽among those photographed.
