Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and we鈥檝e always been transparent about that.

The church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we鈥檝e aimed 鈥渢o injure no man, but to bless all mankind,鈥� as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

In addition to using this space for news insights, we also occasionally pull back the curtain on journalism at the Monitor and beyond.The exciting and daunting thing about our industry right now is that few publications have found a model for success. NBC has a new sitcom, 鈥淭he Paper,鈥� (modeled after 鈥淭he Office鈥�) depicting the dire challenges of local news outlets. In real life, CBS is reportedly negotiating to buy The Free Press, a young digital publication that has challenged much of the orthodoxy in legacy media. And this week at the Online News Association conference in New Orleans, many folks 鈥� including a couple from the Monitor 鈥� will be exploring the future of digital journalism in the AI era.What鈥檚 your take on how journalism can best meet this moment?
